The Hair Transplant Technique With No Visible ScarringCosmetic medicine is advancing at an incredibly fast rate, and along with it, so too are hair transplant techniques. Long gone are the days of "the rug" hair pieces or "the flap" hair transplant surgery. Today, consumers are demanding more delicate cosmetic procedures, with natural looking results, that are comfortable, with minimal downtime, and hair transplants are no exception.

Visible scarring is no longer part and parcel of hair transplant surgery, thanks to innovative developments in the type of tools and techniques used, and the skill of the doctor performing the procedure. There should be no reason to consider FUE or strip surgery today. Learn about what causes scars and the hair transplant technique with no visible scarring.

What Causes Scarring During A Hair Transplant?

The manner in which the hair follicles are harvested is responsible for the level of scarring that results from the procedure. Strip surgery, or Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT), is a traditional technique where a "strip" of skin is removed from the back of the scalp to be divided into single units that are then transplanted into the treatment area. Scarring from this technique is unavoidable due to the incision and stitches required. Scarring is more prominent if the patient is susceptible to keloid scarring.

Another traditional technique is Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), where a punch is used to make a small circular cut in the skin around a hair follicle or group of follicles, removing them from the scalp, leaving a small open hole. Scars form as the open holes heal. The healing process is typically quicker and the scars less visible than FUT, generally taking around 2 weeks to heal.

The Gro microsurgery extraction method can be referred to as a micro-FUE as it doesn’t involve cutting into patients’ skin and only punches with diameter of 1mm or less are used to extract hairs one by one from the donor area. This minimally invasive technique is always performed by a Doctor from start to finish, ensuring consistency and high quality.

Many people don't realise just how advanced and undetectable a hair transplant can be. To find out what is possible for you and your potential results, book a complimentary consultation with a Gro hair growth specialist.
